CLAYTON: Joseph Thurman “J.T.” Smith, 94, passed away on October 31, 2009. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at McLaurin Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bobby Smith officiating. Entombment with Masonic Rites will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Mr. Smith was a retired farmer and merchant and was also a retired Magistrate.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys P. Smith of Smithfield, daughter, Gail S. O’Neil & husband, Billy of Clayton, son, George E. Smith & wife, Janice of Clayton, sister, Mildred Mozingo of Wilson, grandchildren, Tim Smith & wife, Lisa, Bonnie Mayo & husband, Randy, Eric O’Neil & wife, Kim, great grandchildren, Parker, Kendell and Reghan Mayo and Joseph Tristan “J.T.” O’Neil.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 am. at McLaurin Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to White Oak Baptist Church Transportation Fund 13943 Buffalo Road, Clayton, NC 27527.
