Houston was also the patriarch of our CVR Dems family and we will miss him. From the first meeting he attended in 2004 (at which he and Meredith won the political trivia contest), through the 2008 election and beyond, he showed us all how to be a good citizen and an outstanding human being.

It was an honor to know Houston - to share his excitment when we helped elect our 44th President. Houston never failed to have something worthwhile to say and I loved listening to his stories.

I respected Dr. Lewis and admired his sense of community involvement. As a retired military officer myself and Superintendent of Schools I interacted with him numerous times and found him to be a man of honor and compassion. His legacy lives on here in Wheeling.

On behalf of the Board of Directors of Youth Services System, the staff and the thousands of children served during Houston's nearly 30 year tenure as a board director I want to express our condolences to the family.
I first met Houston nearly 50 years ago when I was his paperboy. He always treated this 10 year old with dignity and good humored engagement.
We as an organization were blessed with his tireless advocacy and support for children
