Dear Millie and Family, Stirz (As we called him) will never be forgotten for his kindness and his genuine caring for other people. His fellow co0workers at the University loved him dearly. He never considered himself above anyone else, speaking to everyone on campus, like the newspaper said, even the janitorial help and maids. He was one of the sweetest and greatest men I ever knew. He will be sorely missed. You all are in my prayers. Love to all.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I am sorry I never got the chance to meet Norbert, it seems that he was quite a guy. I greatly admire his academic career and am glad he was a fellow alum from I.U. He did Indiana University proud.
I know he will be missed.

Norb was a special person in my life. He hired me to be The first director of student affairs at the University. It was my first full-time job after finishing graduate school. He became more than just a boss. He was a mentor and the father like figure. Later when he became a professor of education I took a number of courses from him and he served as an advisor on my doctoral committee. He was a constant source of

My deepest sympathy to all the Stirzaker family and especially to Millie on your loss. Norb was a wonderful man,an inspiring educator and most importantly an honest and straightforward mentor.
He served as my dissertation Chairman and as I told him many times, made me do much better work than I wanted to do! He also served on a number of Southern Association 10 year evaluations with me and always shared his great experience and sense of humor with us all. He will be missed by us all, but will never be forgotten.

When Ellen married my late brother Doug, we were lucky to become part of the extended Stirzaker family. Knowing that my brother had this wonderful man, Norb, close by and part of his daily life was a blessing to us. Norb was a talented, lovely, and generous man. We will always remember him fondly. Our heartfelt sympathy to the Stirzakers.

I got to know Norb when I taught in Spartanburg in the 70's. I worked with his wife, Millie, at Evans and McCracken Jr. Highs, and taught his children, Tom, Ellen and Amy, in the Spartanburg string and orchestra program. Kree and I were guests at the Stirzaker home on several occaisions where we would talk about music and education. I respected Norb and Millie as parents, musicians and educators. Norb will be remembered for his leadership and expertise in education at the university level in Spartanburg and the State of South Carolina.

I enjoyed getting to know the Stirzaker's when they lived on Palmetto Street. I used to babysit with the 3 younger children and it was a joy to stay with them. I have said many times through the years that they spoiled me because they never gave me any trouble.
My love and deepest sympathy to the Stirzaker family.
