James Claude Duff, Sr.

James Claude Duff Sr., 64, of Duff Hollow Road, Bluefield, died suddenly early Sunday morning, February 3, 2013, at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. He was born July 15, 1948, in Mercer County; he was the son of the late Andrew Robert Duff and Rosa Kathleen Hale Duff. Mr. Duff was educated in Mercer County and a member of the Full Gospel Assembly's Church in Princeton. Mr. Duff retired after 21 years of service from the Mercer County Board of Education from Maintenance Department. While his health permitted he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and working on the farm at Little Island Creek. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 42 years Shirley Jean Smith Duff, along with his two children, James C. (J.C.) Duff Jr. of Charleston and Lisa Carol Neal and her husband Jeffrey of Lashmeet. Seven grandchildren; Danyle, Kasidi, Casey, Ashley, Analys, Jase & Savannah, and one great grandchild, the Apple of his eye, Emberlin. Additional survivors include his siblings; William "Pete" Duff and wife Linda, Grover Duff and wife Robin, and Ted Wayne Duff and wife Rose all of Bluefield, Tommy Duff of Princeton, Marie Perdue and husband Eddie of Bluefield, Mildred Alvis and husband Harold of Thaxton, Virginia, Joyce Neal and husband Jason of Bluefield, Opal and Willard Prevento, Bluefield, WV, and Nancy Hicks and husband Paul of Bishop, Virginia. A host of nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Duff will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, February 9, 2013, at the Full Gospel Assembly Church in Princeton with Pastor James Coburn officiating. Following the service, a time of gathering and sharing will be held at the church for friends to visit with the family. The family has honored his request. His body has been cremated and his cremains will be scattered on the family farm at Little Island Creek at later date.
