COLUMBIA Barbara Glatz McQuillan, 67, passed on Mon., Feb. 25, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sat., March 2, at First Church of Christ, Scientist, 1114 Pickens St., next to USC School of Art. The family will receive friends after the service at 32 Gibbes Court, one block from USC Capstone House. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
Barbara, wife of David C. McQuillan, was born in Buffalo, N.Y. The daughter of the late Edward David and Lauretta May Glatz, Barbara graduated from Williamsville (N.Y.) High School in 1962. She earned a degree in music from the State University of New York, Buffalo, in 1967. She began her professional career with The Christian Science Monitor in Boston, Mass., working there for 13 years. In 1979, she moved to Columbia, S.C. to marry David, and began working for the McNair Law Firm as a paralegal where she retired in December after 33 years .
Barbara was active in many professional, church, and community organizations. In addition to her paralegal activities, she was chair of the executive board, First Reader and organist of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Columbia.
She was president of the Elmwood Park Neighborhood Association and was business manager of the Sterling Chamber Players.
In addition to having traveled extensively to numerous countries covering six continents, Barbara and David just completed their 31st cruise with Royal Caribbean International over Valentine's Day.
Surviving are her husband, David; sister-in-law Anne K. Dopf (Bryan) of Westwood, N.J.; sister-in-law, Patricia L. McQuillan (James Bradley) and brother-in-law, James P. McQuillan of Raleigh, N.C.

Mr MCQuillan Im sorry to hear about your Loss Mrs Barbara was My Customer and my friend i last seen her in January and she was cheerful and pleasant as always i was very shocked hear that she has passed way and i will never see her again

Unfortunately we had a family funeral in the low country and could not make Barbara's service.
