"I was blessed with the opportunity to sing for Teena Marie and her band back in the late 1980's when they came to perform in Oakland, CA. They asked me to record a demo for them and even talked about me being like her "baby sis". While we never reconnected, I remained a loyal fan. She was a talent that simply cannot be denied. In her honor, I will be presenting a musical tribute to her and performing her music. The following is the information on the even for those in Northern California that may want to attend:

"Teena had the remarkable capacity to hit your heart and soul with her voice. She was true, honest and had a genuine appreciation for the R&B community of artists and fans. And though her music could be sensual and sexual, at its core it was spiritual. She was a woman of faith and now she's taken on her wings and flown Home. But for those of us here, thank God that she's left us such an extraordinary repertoire of music that will live on through time as long as there are listeners available to hear it. Thank you, Lady T.
