Eleanor Kinsinger Kennedy departed this life peacefully in her home on May 19, 2017. She was born in Peoria, IL on August 30, 1935 to Marie Louise Eisele Kinsinger and D. Paul Kinsinger and grew up in Winston Salem, NC. Eleanor attended R.J. Reynolds High School and during her youth was professionally trained in voice and opera. Her caring and nurturing love for people led her to a life in nursing. She graduated from the Rex Hospital School of Nursing in 1956 and worked for nearly 50 years as an RN at Rex Hospital. She met the love of her life, Charles Hugh Kennedy of Raleigh, NC on a blind date and they were married February 22, 1957. Eleanor loved spending time with friends and family. She had an eye for beautiful antiques and collectables and a passion for flowers and floral design. Affectionately known as "The Flower Lady" at White Memorial Presbyterian Church she led the Flower Guild for as long as anyone can remember. Eleanor was enthusiastic about the arts and was an involved member of the Raleigh Fine Arts Society, a longtime supporter of the NC Symphony, and a docent at the NC Governor's Mansion and NC Museum of Art. Additionally she adored her Garden Club and Bible Study friends and the many close relationships she made at White Memorial as a dedicated and active member of Circle F, the Worship Committee, the Wedding Guild, and Women of the Church. She was a beloved wife, sister, mother and friend.
