James was born on August 6, 1922 and passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2019.

James was a resident of Fayetteville, North Carolina at the time of passing.

After graduating from Stedman High School, he attended the University of North Carolina and received a B.S. in Chemistry in 1943.

Following his UNC graduation, he served in the Navy at several bases in the United States and in the Philippines, including positions as Officer-in-Charge of a Floating Ammunition Depot, in Leyte Gulf and Executive Officer of the Naval Ammunition Depot, Samar, Philippine Islands.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 12:30 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church, with the Rev. John Locke officiating. Burial will follow in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home and 30 minutes prior to the service at the Church. Visitation at the Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on April 23, 2019.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, Memorial Fund, 1424 Morganton Rd. Fayetteville, N.C. 28305.
