Alice-Maude Virginia Richards Williams, age 81, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Marks United Methodist Church, 4801 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27509. Entombment will be at the mausoleum of Pinecrest Memorial Park in Clayton, NC.

She was a native of Freetown, Sierra-Leone in West Africa where she had been employed as the city Treasurer.

She is survived by her husband, Lemuel Williams; four children, Leonard "Lenny", Lemuel Jr., Leonora Dinah and Lina and son-in-law Sylvester; five grandchildren, Nathan, Lauren, Linderick, Kiara and Frederick; one sister, Henrietta "Dayo" Martyn; and brother-in-law, Oseh Martyn; and other relatives including the Barber-Richards, Williams, Macarthy, Jones, Hamilton, Martyn, Davies, Nichol and Reader families.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton, NC. The body will lie in state at the church on Friday, February 8, 2013 from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
