Mr. Charlie Ray Carpenter, age 62 passed away in the Nash General Hospital on January 24, 2013.
Charlie Ray worked at Carolina Steel for more than 30 years. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing. He attended Taylors Chapel Church, Sandy Cross.
He is preceded in death by his mother Annie Rea Carpenter and father Charlie Winslow Carpenter.
He is survived by his wife Wanda Carpenter of the home, daughter Clancy Carter of Rocky Mount, son Blair and wife Amanda Carpenter of Nashville, 2 step sons: Tim and wife Sandy Harris of Rocky Mount and William and wife Jennifer Thomas of Winterville, 4 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 4 brothers: Steve Carpenter, Dennis and wife Joy Carpenter, Marvin and wife JoAnne Carpenter all of Rocky Mount and Jack and wife Kathy Carpenter of Spring Hope, several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, January 27, 2013 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Johnson Funerals and Cremations, 661 English Road, with the entombment following in the Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday night from 7 until 9 PM and other times at the home.
