Mr. Conley Gene Smith age 60 of 704 South Raleigh Street, Apt. 1, Wallace died Sunday, August 23, 2009 at Pender Memorial Hospital in Burgaw.
A Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, August 27 at Smith Cemetery in Harrells conducted by Rev. Amos Smith.
He is survived by one daughter, Melissa Turner and husband Sammy Faircloth of Clinton; seven sisters, Lila Ward of Wilmington, Frances Smith of Archdale, Sadie Fields and husband Lester of Trinity, Nina McMillan of Bladenboro, Jane Gordon and husband Don of High Point, Allan Kaye Whaley and husband James of Willard, Julie Brawley of White Oak; two brothers, Vernon Smith of Hubert, Holly Smith, Jr. and wife Ruthie of Dublin; one grand daughter, Alyssa Bowden and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Smith is the son of the late Holly Neal Smith and Mary Staton Smith. He is also preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Smith and Roland Smith; and one sister, Lexie Hunter.
Casketbearers will be Jimmy Smith, Jimmy James, Ronnie Smith, Duane Wallace, Fuzzy James, Robin Eury, Stanley Corbett and Joshua Whaley.
The family will receive friends at Padgett Funeral Home Wednesday from 7:00 until 9:00 pm and at his residence, 704 South Raleigh Street, Apt. 1 in Wallace other times.
