Dale J. Remy, age 81, formerly of Albia, passed away January 21, 2013 at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Dale was born April 19, 1931 to Dale M. and Jesse (Samuel) Remy at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia. He married Corabelle "Corky" Melton on June 30, 1956 in Albia. After 44 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on May 10, 2001.

Dale was a graduate of Albia High School, Class of 1949. After graduation, he served his country in the United States Air Force, with a tour of duty in the Far East. After his return from overseas, he entered civil service with the United States Postal Service, where he remained until retirement.

Dale enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was an avid gardener. He was an active member of the American Legion Howard Cessna Post 136 in Albia. After moving to Colorado, he enjoyed attending baseball games, as well as playing BINGO, Yahtzee, and solving jigsaw puzzles with his granddaughter, Lexi.

Dale is survived by a son, Nicholas Remy, and his wife Stacie of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a daughter, Toni, and her husband Jim Lansing of Lake Ozark, Missouri; six grandchildren, Nicholas Jr., Rachael and Alexis Remy, Matthew, David and James Hauschildt; and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Dean Remy, and a sister, Nita Nedderman, both of Albia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale M. and Jesse; his wife, Corabelle, and two sisters, Irma Emanuel and Doris Sinclair.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia, with Pastor Neil Montz officiating. Burial will follow services at Oak View Cemetery in Albia with military rites provided by the American Legion of Albia, Lovilia, and Melrose.

Visitation will be 2 p.m., Monday, January 28, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Dale's family present from 6-8 p.m.

A memorial has been established to Animal Lifeline of Iowa, in Carlisle, Iowa.
