Edward A. Gendron, Jr. went home to be with the Lord on January 25, 2013. He was born on June 23, 1932 in Cambridge, Mass. to the late Edward, Sr and Helen Gendron.
He was a United States Navy Veteran and served in the Korean War.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his four brothers-in-law; Edward Christian, Tom Bishop, Robert Christian and John Gillenwater.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 52 years, Louise Gendron; daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Jeff Jameson of Daniels; sister, Lorraine Chambers and husband, Harvey of Merrimach, NH; brother, Charlie Gendron and wife, Lillian of Tewksbury, Mass; sister-in-laws, Jessie Gillenwater of Church Hill, TN, Alma Bishop of Kingsport, TN, JoAnn Honaker and husband, Richard of Rogersville, TN; and many nieces and nephews.
He was a truck driver for National Linen Service out of Roanoke, VA which brought him to West Virginia. He then became a coal miner having worked for Ranger Fuel, Itman, and Sabine Coal Companies. He then worked for Top Notch Services until his retirement.
He was an avid sports fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, and the Boston Celtics.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Doctors and Nurses at Raleigh General Hospital for the devotion and loving care that was given to Ed during his stay; also a special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Tom Chips.
A service to celebrate the life of Edward A. Gendron, Jr will be held 2:00PM Monday, January 28, 2013 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Rev. Larry Lilly officiating. Burial will follow the services at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may gather with the family from 1:00PM until time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
