Elton Pittman, 89, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, January 28, 2013. He was born in Micro to the late Jimmie and Mattie Pittman. He owned Pittman's Jewelers in Clayton and he and his wife were in the jewelry business for 66 years. Elton was a devoted member of First Baptist Church, Clayton. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Laura Lee Pittman; daughter, Gloria Pleasant (Andy) of Clayton; daughter, Beverly Goodwin (Robert) of Fuquay-Varina; grandchildren, Paige Whitaker (Blake), Kyle Pleasant (Christina), Reid Goodwin (Melissa), Brooke Goodwin, two great grandchildren, Luke and Quinn Whitaker and a sister, Doris Bordeaux. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, J.L. Pittman. Services will be held 3:00 Thursday at First Baptist Church Clayton with entombment following at Pinecrest Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be Thursday one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Clayton, 411 N. Fayetteville Street or to SECU Hospice House, 509 N. Brightleaf Blvd, Smithfield, NC 27577. Condolences may be made to the family at www.mclaurinatpinecrest.com.
