Dear Shelley & family: I know you will miss your dad very much. He was such a jewel of a person! Always had such a warm smile for everybody and he loved his gospel music. We had lots of times of sharing about the songs he loved and the groups he liked to listen to. He will be missed by so many people! Our prayers are going out for you now and in the days to come.

Gene was a big help with my hobby of tracing the Thomas family in Edgecombe, from which we both descend. My mom is Jewell, his first cousin. We cprresponded. I think, earlier this year about the cemetary at Vestal Road and Arlington Street Ext. I remember the first time he showed me the Thomas family bible back in 1981. I think he was actually excited that someone was trying to trace the family tree!
