Memorial service for Frederick "Fred" William Cerna, 55, of Jasper was held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013 in the Solid Rock Baptist Church in Zavalla with Barry Burch officiating. Fred Cerna was born August 26, 1957 in Germany to Nita (Franks) and James Cerna and died February 23, 2013 in St. Elisabeth hospital in Beaumont after attaining the age of 55 years, 5 months and 28 days.

Fred Cerna was a restaurant manger, proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was formally a long time resident of Houston. He loved spending time with his family including his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed music, working in the garden especially planting flowers and was baptized in the Johnson Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Cerna; daughters and sons-in-law, Jessica McMillian and Blaine Mullenax and Krystal and Robert Primrose; sons and daughters-in-law, Gabe and Carly McMillian and William and Angel Rawls, all of Jasper; sons, Dustin Cerna and Eric Cerna, both of Houston; 7 grandsons; parents, James and Nita Cerna of Zavalla; sisters, Kate Porter of Lufkin and Celeste Davis of Houston; 9 nieces, 9 nephews and their families; aunts, Bobby Zapata and Jimmy Banks; and a host of friends.

Fred Cerna was preceded in death by his brother, Ivan Cerna.

Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Snead Linton Funeral Home.
