Born in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late John L. Fergurson and Madie Shannon Fergurson. After rearing her family and farming for many years, Mrs. Lee began work late in life as a certified nursing assistant at Bel-Air Health Care. During her seventeen-year career in nursing, she was recognized twice as C.N.A. of the Year. A wonderful cook, she was known for her "Sunday Dinners," which she believed kept her family together. She loved to garden, growing beautiful flowers and tomatoes. A talented seamstress, she made beautiful quilts and was quite a poet. In earlier years, she loved to fish and camp and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves.
Mrs. Lee was the oldest and a life-time member of Union Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she faithfully served as Sunday School Teacher and Deacon for many years. She was loved and respected by everyone who knew her. Her family will surely miss her, but will always have cherished memories.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Jasper Ward Lee on June 24, 1999; son, Leonard Ward Lee, Sr.; daughter, Linda Solomon; sons-in-law, Wayne Crick and Stephen Harville; granddaughter, Maria Lee Solomon; sister, Mattie Lee Winchester; and brothers, Wade Fergurson and Wall Fergurson.
Survivors include her children, Edward I. (Pam) Lee of Columbia, Louise Crick of Culleoka, David (Joanne) Lee of Center Valley, Pennsylvania; Genie Harville of Campbellsville; sisters, Mary Tidwell of Madison and Grace Krantz of Antioch; sisters-in-law, Frances Lee of Columbia, Martha Waggoner of Franklin, and Judy Fergurson of Lambertville, Michigan; grandchildren, Denise Lee (Eddie) Anderson, Leanne Crick, Dena Lee (Tim) Haurez, Leonard "Bubba" Lee, Anthony Lee, Rusty (Betty) Solomon, Rickey Solomon, Jeff Lee, Andy (Carly) Lee, Wayne (Krystal) Crick, David Lee, Jr., Joseph Lee, and T. J. (Carolann) Hendrix; fourteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers are Leonard "Bubba" Lee, Anthony Lee, Eddie Anderson, Rusty Solomon, Rickey Solomon, Jeff Lee, Tim Huarez, Andy Lee, Wayne Crick, David Lee, Jr., Joseph Lee, T. J. Hendrix, and Ryan Anderson.
Honorary pallbearers include Edith Sharp, Larry and Joanne Anderson, Alma Maxwell, Doyle and Sandy Collins, Ross, Missy, and Ashley Petty, Arthur Wentzel, Jerry Primm, Roger Hinson, Sonny Love, Donald Love, Billy Garland, and the congregation of Union Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
The family expresses appreciation to Dr. Ben Gardner and Staff, 5th Floor Nursing and SNU Unit, and Maury Regional Home Health Care for their kindness and care during her illness.
