Harold W. Watkins, 78, of Pendleton passed away February 20, 2013 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville.

He was born in Crawfordsville on August 26, 1934 later residing in Indianapolis until moving to Pendleton in 1970.

Harold retired from the Indianapolis Police Department as a Sergeant Detective in 1988 following 27 1/2 years service.
Following retirement he was in real estate sales, served as a Madison County Deputy Coroner and Madison County Unified Courts Bailiff.

He was a 1953 graduate of Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis and served in the Indiana National Guard.

Harold was a member of the Pendleton Church of Christ, Lynhurst Masonic Lodge #723 F.& A.M., Indianapolis for over 50 years and Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Patricia (Cook) Watkins whom he married August 12, 1962 in Plainfield; three children, Angela (husband, Gregg) Hendershot, Chris (wife, Tina) Watkins and Lana (husband, Kevin) Ogburn all of Pendleton; brother, Larry (wife, Vera) Watkins of Danville; ten grandchildren, Nathan, Grant, Nicolas, Noah and Paige; Chaston and Erica; and Andrew, Aaron and Kristen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Kelsey and Catherine Irene (Weir) Watkins; and a grandson, Payton C. Hendershot.

Friends may call from 12 until 2 P.M., Monday, February 25, 2013 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State St., Pendleton, Indiana 46064.

A private family service will be conducted later with Brother Jim Vaughn officiating and burial following in Grove Lawn Cemetery, Pendleton.
