Mr. Homer F. Brown, 90, of Lenox, GA and part-time resident of Jacksonville, FL, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2013 at his residence in Jacksonville, FL. He was born on February 2, 1922 in Eldorado, GA to the late Clarence Eugene and Lonice Blount Brown. Mr. Brown was an Army veteran of World War II, worked as a farmer in his younger years and later became a lab foreman for Sinclair and Valentine Ink Company. He attended Northside Baptist Church in Tifton, GA.
Mr. Brown is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Joanne Brown , and a daughter and son-in-law Jo Ann and Jim Bishop, all of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren, Jennifer Brown of Jacksonville, FL, Jason and Stacy Brown of Hudson, IA, David Bishop and Amy Bishop, both of Jacksonville, FL; one great-grandchild, Davis Brown of Hudson, IA; and two sisters, Ruth Gibbs of Lenox, GA, and Mary Lou Griffin of Nashville, GA; and a longtime friend, Betty Rinnear. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Livette Connell Brown and a brother, Albert Brown.
Mr. Brown's family received friends Saturday , February 2, 2013 from 6 until 7:30 PM at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., in Adel, GA. The funeral service took place Sunday, February 3, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Boone Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Evers officiating and Carrie Connell providing the eulogy. Interment followed at Lakeview Church Cemetery in Lenox, GA with Rev. Ray Mayfield officiating. Bo Duncan sang "The Anchor Holds" and a DVD Tribute was played which included "Wish You Were Here;" all in attendance at the graveside joined in the singing of "Amazing Grace." Phil Brown, Jim Bishop, Jason Brown, Bo Duncan, Steve Cook and Loren Griffin served as pallbearers. Condolences may be expressed to the Brown Family online at www.boonefunerals.com.
