Haw River, NC Hugh Clarence Clark, age 87, of Trollingwood Road passed away on Friday, October 30, 2009. He was a native of Lee County and the husband of 57 years to Thelma Moore Clark who survives. Hugh was the owner and operator of Hugh Clarks Garage for 45 years. He was a veteran of the US Army during WW II serving in the Pacific Theatre. Hugh was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Thelma Moore Clark of the home; daughters, Glenda Gooch and her husband, Buddy of Burlington and Cindy Grissom and her husband, Billy of Haw River; son, Eddie Clark of Graham; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren; sister, Pearl Clark of Virginia Beach, VA; brothers, Henry Clark of Florida and Harold Clark of Lynchburg, VA. He was preceded in death by his son, Walter David Clark and parents, Walter and Myrtle Simmons Clark. A cryptside service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, November 2, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Steve Loy at Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum. Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory are in charge of the arrangements. The family of Hugh Clark wants to express their gratitude to the NC Smart and all those who spent countless hours helping to locate Hugh and support our family over the past week. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Public Safety Dogs, Inc., P O Box 187, Haw River, NC 27258.

Our most heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Clark family. We are friends of Eddie, and stayed in constant contact with him during the week, continually checked the timesnews.com and digtriad.com websites for updates and also did our own local searches. We know that Hugh will be greatly missed by all.
