Jean Fortman, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving children on December 4, 2012. She was born October 13, 1919 in London, England to the late Harry and Lilian (Mathews) Boyce. She had two sisters, Marjorie and Ivy Boyce. Jean met and married William Fortman while both were fire wardens during World War II in London. In 1958 they immigrated to the United States with their two children. Jean is predeceased by her sisters and husband of 52 years William, in 2004.
She was the loving mother to Sandra and husband Bill (Toumbacaris) as well as son Robert, cherished grandmother to Christopher and wife Megan (Toumbacaris) and Barbara and husband Len (Senecal), beloved great grandmother to Alexander, Maria, Paul and Mariah and caring aunt to Anthony Boyce.
Jean was an avid gardener and cat lover who enjoyed reading mysteries and was loved by everyone. Her British sense of humor will be missed by all who had the fortune to meet her, especially her son-in-law Bill.
She was under the care of Hospice. The family wishes to thank the kindness shown by all the caregivers. Family and friends are invited to a attend a celebration of Jean's life at DeYoung Shoreline Chapel, 7676 Shoreline Drive, Stockton, CA 95219 on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 10:00 AM . In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the The Salvation Army or Hospice House of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, CA 95204.
