John F. Tompkins was born on March 27, 1929 in Ontario, Canada to Myra and George Tompkins. He passed away surrounded by his loving family on February 3, 2013. John is the Past-President of American Electric Construction Co. President Emeritus of New Horizon Center. He dedicated himself in this capacity for more than 25 years. John served in the United States Air Force from 1949 – 1950. He is the beloved husband of Yvonne nee Bourassa. Loving father of Colleen (Jim Morse) Tompkins, Karen (Don) Olynyk, Susan (Rusty) Gilley, Mary (Mark) Davis, JoAnne (Casey) Cartwright, Michael (Sue) Tompkins , Kenneth (Ayse) Tompkins. John was preceded in death by his son, Johnny Tompkins. Proud grandfather of Jennifer, Shawn, John, Russell, Jill, Julie, Jamie, Jacquelyn, John, Michelle, Ryan, Mark, Christine, Kevin, Makenzie, Victoria, Sara and Megan. Great Grandfather of Grace, Madeline, Anna and Liam. Dear brother of George (Ruth) Tompkins, Mary (Don) Muir and preceded in death by his brothers, Chuck Tompkins and Bob (Linda) Tompkins. Family and friends to gather Tuesday, February 12th for memorial visitation 10AM until time of Memorial Mass 11AM at St. Hubert Church 729 Grand Canyon St Hoffman Estates Arrangements by DuPage Cremations, Ltd. and Memorial Chapel (630) 293-5200.
