John Richard Reed, 72, of Cheneyville, IL, passed away at 5:34 P.M. Saturday January 12, 2013 at Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center. He was born December 7, 1940, in Danville, IL, the son of Russell and Hilda (Branson) Reed.
He is survived by one brother, Monty Reed of Cheneyville, IL; one sister-in-law, Karen Reed of Hoopeston, IL; one nephew Jason (Dianna) Reed of Milford, IL and two great-nephews, Blake and Jacob Cole Reed of Milford, IL.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and one brother Ronnie Reed.
John worked at Joan of Arc in Hoopeston for 16 years. He was a member of the Hoopeston Community Church of the Nazarene and also a member of the Hoopeston Lions Club and the Illiana Antique Auto Club of Danville. He was an avid volunteer at the Hoopeston Multi-Agency and Chris Senior Services. John will best be remembered for always being there to lend a helping hand.
