Leola Mae Wales, age 91 of Albia, died Friday, January 18, 2013 at Oakwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Albia.

Leola was born January 18, 1922, to Clarence and Beulah (Kinsinger) Glotfelty in Grantsville, MD. She married John Perry Wales on October 24, 1944 in Bacchus, MN. After 45 years of marriage, he preceded her in death in 1989.

Leola graduated from high school in Confluence, PA. She had worked many places in her lifetime, but later in life worked for the Albia School District in the Lincoln Center cafeteria.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, baking, and reading.

Leola is survived by two daughters, Karen (Jay) Cutler of Charles City, IA and Marcia (Dale) Dowell of Mexico, MO; and four grandchildren, Cassandra (Brian) Proball, Ben Cutler, Michael Dowell, and Jesse (fiancé Marisa) Dowell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Perry Wales; and a son, John.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 21, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Pastor Neil Montz officiating. Burial will be in Main Station Cemetery near Lake Rathbun.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. until the start of the service, Monday, January 21, 2013, at Tharp Funeral Home in Albia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Trinity United Methodist Church or Albia Public Library.
