Lois A. Schmiedeker, 94, passed away Monday, February 11, 2013, at Palmetto Richland Hospital following a brief illness. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo. Entombment will be held in Cincinnati at the Spring Grove Mausoleum Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior at the Mausoleum.
Mrs. Schmiedeker was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on August 2, 1918, and was the daughter of the late Edward H. Knapp and Ada Rahe Knapp. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 57 years, William J. Schmiedeker in May 1997.
She is survived by two sons, Rick L. Schmiedeker (Judi) of Irmo and Ronald Schmiedeker (Ruth) of Bluffton.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 6952 St. Andrews Road, Columbia, SC 29212.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Deepwood Estates in Lexington where Mrs. Schmiedeker resided and enjoyed "retirement" living. They would also like to express their appreciation to the staff of NHC Healthcare in Lexington where Mrs. Schmiedeker spent the last several weeks of her life and the staff of Columbia Heart and Palmetto Richland Hospital.
