Maria Ann Elizabeth Skubis Derrico, 54, passed away January 19, 2013, after a long and courageous battle since May 2009 with stage 4 non smokers
lung cancer. In her working days, Maria was a loans counselor for Trans America; an abstracter for TRW; and most recently an accounts manager for Stanley J. Skubis PC. She enjoyed her yearly trips to Cape Cod since she was an infant, biking, nature, the sky, birds, and trees, sign language, elephants, photography, piano, her dogs and kitties, and most importantly, spending time with her beloved, cherished daughters. She is survived by her two daughters, Emera Lane (18) and Mattie (21); her parents, Rose and Walter Skubis; her brothers, Stanley Skubis of Schenectady and Walter Skubisz of Milford, MA; her sister, Sharon Foerster (Don) and their son, Dylan of Auburn, ME; her cousin, Maryangela Fiorentino of Utica, NY; and her wonderful friends, especially Martha, Judy, and Teresa. She is forever grateful for the loving support she received from her family, friends, and NYOH over the past four years. A gathering for a celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, January 23, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave., Schenectady,NY, to which all are welcome to attend.
