Mark B. Kentner, 69, of Mount Pleasant, Iowa passed away at 2:20 p.m. Saturday February 9, 2013 at his home in Mount Pleasant.

Born January 28, 1944 at Mason City, Iowa he was the son of Edward Boyd and Jean Toland Kentner. On December 18, 1965 at Osage, Iowa he married Marcia Berg.

Survivors include his wife Marcia of Mount Pleasant. Three daughters Molly (husband Craig) Fedler of West Point, Iowa, Sara Kentner of Coralville, Iowa and Madeleine (husband Eric) Finch of Hohenfels, Germany and seven grandchildren. Also surviving are his twin brother David (Judy) Kentner of Georgia, one sister Kay (Dale) Ouverson of Arizona, two step brothers Keith Shearer of Dubuque, Iowa and Don Forest of Florida and one step-sister Barbara Link of Wisconsin. Mark is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a member of Saint Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mount Pleasant. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1962 he received a bachelor degree from St. Ambrose University and then obtained a Masters Degree from Drake University. He was a United States Army Veteran, a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. He was a past Lions Club member and a member of the West Union Jaycees. Mark enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing, fixing cars, working with his hands, traveling and being with his family.

The family will meet with friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2013 at the Ossenbrink Center next to Saint Mary's Catholic Church in West Point, Iowa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2013 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in West Point with Father Joseph Phung and Father Dennis Hoffman as celebrants. Burial with full military rites by the Hotz-Geers American Legion Post #668 of West Point will be in the Calvary Cemetery in West Point.

A memorial has been established in his memory.
