Roger Sixta, age 74, of Ocheyedan, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church, Horton Township, Ocheyedan, Iowa. Rev. Russell Anderson officiating.

Burial in the Ocheyedan Township Cemetery of Ocheyedan.

Visitation will be Monday, February 4, from 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Chapel in Ocheyedan.

Roger Leland Sixta was born on November 28, 1938 in Worthington, Minnesota. He was the son of Leland Joseph and Cecil Lillian (Fawcett) Sixta. He lived his youth in Horton Township, on the home place and attended a country school, Zion Lutheran School in Horton Township and high school for two years.
He was united in marriage to Lois Faye Norman of Sibley, Iowa on July 9, 1963 at the Trinity Reformed Church in Sibley. They lived in Bigelow, Minnesota where Roger drove truck for Doug Kleuver. They later moved to Lake Park, Iowa where Roger drove truck for Ahrenstorff Trucking and farmed. In 1968, they moved to rural Harris, Iowa where they farmed. In 1977, they moved to the home place where Roger farmed and drove truck for Northwest Iowa Ready Mix in Ocheyedan and other truck companies in the area.
Roger was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Horton Township. He was a 4-H Leader, an Osceola County Fair Board Member and Extension Council Board Member, for many years. He was a Supervisor for Osceola County. He was a member of Siouxland Collectors and the National Minneapolis–Moline Club. He was recently elected to the Worthington Prairie Reapers Board. He was in charge of the Ocheydan Tractor Ride, Polar Bear Tractor Ride, High Point Tractor Ride, and the Minneapolis–Moline Tractor Ride.
Roger and Lois enjoyed traveling to tractor shows and rides in many states, especially with family.
Roger's love was his family, farming and Moline Tractors. He enjoyed playing internet checkers and having coffee, visiting and playing cards with anyone.
He passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 49 years: Lois Sixta of Ocheyedan, IA; two sons: Grant Sixta and special friend Stacey of Ocheyedan, IA, and Clint Sixta of Ocheyedan, IA; 2 grandchildren: Harleigh and Kimber of Ocheyedan, IA; one sister: Karen and husband Ron Witt of Ocheyedan, IA; brother-in-law: Ivan and wife Bev Norman of Hobbs, NM; cousins: Bernadine Kunze, Jay and Mary Olson; many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law: Eunice and Dale Bramley.
