Ruby Louise Ried, 84, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at the Fort Madison Health Center. She was born on June 22, 1928 in Keokuk, IA to Earl W. & Gladys L. Dorsey Alvis. She married Karl Forrest Ried on August 9, 1947 in Donnellson, IA. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1985. She worked in quality assurance for the Sheaffer Pen Company for 32 years and later at the Avenue for 7 years. She was a member and Past President of the Women's Auxiliary of the Eagles Club and a member and Past Sr. Regent of the Women's Auxiliary of the Moose Club. She was a member of the UAW Local 1551 and loved gardening, puzzles, music, dancing, cooking and having parties with her family and friends.
Ruby is survived by: 1-daughter: Karen (Rex) Huffman of New Smyrna Beach, FL; 2-sons: Larry (LaRieu) Ried of Marseilles, IL & Harold (Carol) Ried of Pontoosuc, IL; 6-grandchildren; 1-step granddaughter; 4-great grandchildren & 4-step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 with the family to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory in Fort Madison, IA. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Mike McHugh officiating. Burial will be held in Everhart Cemetery in rural Donnellson, IA. A memorial has been established for Lee County Hospice.
