Shirley Rossi, 91, passed away into the arms of her Heavenly Father on January 15, 2013. Shirley was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 14, 1921. It was there that she met and married the love of her life, Frank Rossi. They have resided in Raleigh since 1964.
Shirley was a devoted wife and mother. She served on the Board of Directors for Hilltop Home, and served as an officer of the Raleigh Republican Women's Club. She had a love for traveling, playing bridge, painting and fishing. She will always be remembered for her love and devotion to her family, her kind sweet spirit and her vitality for living life to the fullest.
A celebration of Shirley's life will be held Saturday, January 19, 2013, at 11:00 am at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:45 to 10:45 am. Burial will follow the service at Raleigh Memorial Park.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Frank Rossi, son, Jon Rossi and his wife, Tracie and a granddaughter, Amanda Rossi, all of Raleigh. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Lillian Strezishar of Des Plaines, IL, sister-in-law, Emma Kelley and her husband, Richard of Arlington Heights, IL and several special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Florence Johnson, brothers, Clarence Walter "Lefty" Johnson, Russell Johnson, Richard Johnson, and a sister, Elaine Johnson.
