THOMAS "TOM" RICHARD BATES
June 5, 1947 – February 4, 2013
GARNER: Thomas "Tom" Richard Bates, age 65, passed away Monday, February 4, 2013.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Brooks Avenue Church of Christ in Raleigh.
He was a native of Zanesville, Ohio and retired from DuPont Chemical Company. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Sparks Bates.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Sparks Bates; son and daughter-in-law David Anthony "Tony" Bates and Heather Bates of Nashville, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Tonya Bates Nelson and Paul Nelson of Clayton, NC; four grandchildren, Grace Bates, Amber Nelson, Luke Nelson, and Ruby Sue Bates; and two brothers, Ron Bates and Gary Bates.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Thursday, February 7, 2013 prior to the service at the church.
